Quote for "Monsters are Due on Maple Street"

The quote discusses how you don't need weapons or power to destroy or kill, but the mentality to do so. People who've have killed, try to eliminate a race, and do all kinds of destructive things, can do so not because of their weaponry but because of their mentality that starts everything off. Meaning you don't need the physical power to cause an effect on people. The scapegoat part reminds me of how people who try to cover up their track often lead to someone else getting in trouble. That's what this quote means to me.

Act I Quote By Nelson Chamba

In Act I Proctor says to Puntam "Your Father had a habit of claiming away land" shows he has no concern to tell people what he thinks of them even if it causes others to scorn him. Putnam is important in town and he has the power to do something about it. Proctor angers him and personally insults him and his father. I don't see this going well and Proctor may feel Putnam's revenge.
Judging from what Proctor said you could tell he has pent up feelings for him. Hey may reveil that later in the story that he has feelings for other characters that he has yet to meantion. Proctor is not intimidated byPutnam's status in town and see's him as someone beneathe him. This dispute between the two isn't over and I'm just waiting to see if Putnam's actually does something.

Day 3 Scarlet Letter

The irony in the Puritans is that they escaped from the restriction of religion and wanted to be from all that, yet the criticize their own and demean them and accuse them to be a sinner. It is hypocritical because they left a place that would have done the same thing to them and yet their doing it to their own people. Isn't being able to be free from religious persecution mean being free from ALL religious persecution.
As a society I don't see them as a free believing community, but a god-fearing union. It's as if they never even believed in religious persecution but used religion as a way to punish people they thought were crimes. That society in my opinion uses religion to get what they think is right. You can relate this to many time periods where people use "religion" as a way of doing something in their favor by making it "holy".

Day 2 Scarlett Letter

After the second day of the movie I see a big difference between the relationship between Hester and Pearl. Hester believes she should one day tell Pearl the truth of how she was conceived because she would feel guilty. Watching them I do see how they act like mother and daughter but the way Hester describes Pearl as peculiar makes me wonder if she has worries about her. After what Hester did I think she does deserve everything that is happening to her. She committed a sin so she has to face the cruel reality of her mistakes.
Pearl's father should come into the light and own up for what he did. He should lend a hand in raising Pearl because she shouldn't have to suffer for the mistakes of her parents. Puritan law and justice is pretty harsh and they don't go around anything they go right for the cruel punishment. They straight-minded and thick-headed about any situation they don't agree with.

The Scarlett letter, Day 1

"The Scarlett Letter" started off with a woman walking through a crowd tormenting her along the way. I didn't notice at first, but she was carrying a baby as she was walking. I really thought she was going to get hanged. Later she walks up a stand where she is faced by some type of council. She's been marked with adultery and she is being punished. She's questioned to tell who the man she cheated with, but she did not comply. From a distance you see a man watching her who seems like he does not want to be notice and waits for her to be dismissed.

Next you see her weeping in an attic with the baby crying as well, then all of a sudden the man you see earlier in the movie shows up. She's taken back which leads me to believe she knows this guy and means a great deal to her. He goes to her slowly and offers aid to lay the baby to rest. You come to find out that he his the husband that was thought to be dead at sea. After a intense conversation he swears to find out who she slept with her forces her to promise she will not tell anyone that he is alive. That was just Day 1, so tomorrow I'm excited to see what goes on next.
